Rumiana Koleva was born in 1971 in Kazanlak. She began working with textile in 1990 in Sofia.
In 1993 she developed the "Method of textile application of threads", which is registered in the Patent Office of Republic of Bulgaria with reg. No. 98141 under the title "Method for Preparing a Textile Composition".
The pictures are composed of fine-cut threads attached to a textile base.
Threads with sustainable colours, such as wool and cotton are used, most often threads used in tapestry.
The completed pictures are put under glass, which protects them from dust and mechanical damages.
Creating a picture with this technique is a hard and time-consuming work.
The first individual exhibition is in Rumiana's hometown Kazanlak in 1996. In the same year an individual exhibition in Sofia was established via the Society of Folklore Handcrafts.
In two consecutive years (2001 and 2002) Rumiana presented her method at the International Salon for Inventions and Innovations "East-West Euro Intellect" in Sofia, where she won two gold medals.
At the moment she prepares a new individual exhibition.
